8 of our favorite baby teethers for twins

Teething is not fun, there’s no way around that. If managing one teething baby is difficult, managing two is… really difficult. I’ve been extremely thankful to find that my twins cope with teething very differently from each other. One of them screams, the other one clings. I think I would loose my mind if we had two screamers! As it is, when teething pain hits, I’m able to pack one baby in my sakura bloom onbuhimo (which also doubles as another great teether), and occupy my other baby with toys and games. It’s manageable, and I’m usually able to keep both babies semi happy.

But however your baby deals with the pain of teething, it’s important to provide them with great baby teethers to help soothe swollen gums and help them cut those little pearly whites.

Finn and Eli are so different in so many ways, and they each have their favorite teething toys! Here are the top ones that have worked for us.

Wooden Teether & Rattle

This wooden teething bracelet has been one of Finn and Eli’s favorite toys since they were newborns! They love the different colors and shapes, they love the rattling noise it makes, and they LOVE all the different textures to chew on! This particular one has a mix of wooden, silicone, and crochet beads that are perfect for swollen gums! I would purchase this again any day. I love that it’s pretty as well- I don’t mind seeing it out all day long.

Teething Toothbrush

These soft bristle brush teethers have been both my babies’ favorites for months! They are great for cutting molars, as the babies  can really get them in the backs of their gums to chew. I really love these ones by Bilibaby because they are 100% BPA-free silicone! Unlike some of the other ones I’ve seen, the handles are soft and bendy.

Silicone Teethers for Twins

Both our babies love Itzy Ritzy silicone tethers! There are so many fun colors and shapes available. These also double up as great bath toys!

Haba Baby Clutching Toy

The Haba baby clothing toy, teether, and rattle, is a classic favorite! We’ve had this since Finn and Eli were about four months old (2 months adjusted) but they’ve only recently started to enjoy playing with it a lot, at nine months old (7 months adjusted)

Pacifier Clips

Pacifier clips can make great teethers, especially if you’re on the go a lot with your babies! These ones by MORIBOX have held up well for several months, and I love the pretty neutral colors.

Silicone Mesh Feeders

These silicone mesh feeders by Dr. Brown’s are fantastic for teething twins! We like to fill them with frozen mango, blueberries, or banana. The babies love the fruit, get a nice dose of vitamin c, and the the frozen fruit numbs their gums and reduces swelling. We chose the Dr. Brown’s brand simply because we had also used this brand of bottles in NICU and our babies seemed to like them. They’ve held up well for nine months and on the whole I’m very pleased with them. They also come in a pack of two–perfectly designed for teething twins!

Wood or Silicone Kitchen Spoons

If you’re hoping to not specifically purchase teethers for your babies, wooden spoons from your kitchen are a perfect option! My babies love chewing on all of our wooden utensils. I’d recommend watching them fairly closely when letting them play with wooden utensils, as they aren’t specially designed for babies and they can easily hurt themselves. Also make sure not to give them any kitchen utensils with loose parts or sharp points.

Towels for Baby Teethers

While Finnley has pretty much zero interest in chewing on towels. Eli loves them. He constantly pulls towels off their hangers in order to chew on them. He’ll sit happily in the kitchen, chewing on a dish towel, for minutes on end. It’s the cutest thing!

As I’ve found over the past couple of months, babies will chew on everything. Hard things, soft things, cold things, warm things. If you don’t have money in your budget to spend on a lot of fancy teethers, don’t worry about it! Your little one is sure to find something they love to sink their gums into. Also, there is no shame in using infant advil if your little one is really struggling. While Eli has never needed it, we’ve used it several times to give Finnley some relief overnight.
