Lactation cookie bites have been so helpful for me in keeping up my milk supply for twins! They’re full of nutrient dense ingredients like oats, dates, and nut butter, and altogether delicious.
Several studies have related oats to increased milk supply, and I definitely noticed that they helped me. Along with that, maintaining a high calorie intake while lactating is so important. So while I’m honestly not sure how much supposedly “magic milk foods” like oats really help with increased milk supply, these little bits are extremely nutrient dense, delicious, and in general an easy way to up your calorie intake while breastfeeding!
There are some pretty powerful ingredients included here. Brewer’s yeast is extremely potent, as are flaxseeds and dates. I’d recommend starting by just sampling one of these lactation bites and seeing how you, your babies, and your milk supply responds! If everything goes well, you can increase to eating 3-4 of these per day.
I’d like to comment here that my little ones did NOT do well with Brewer’s Yeast! I once made these bites with the full suggested amount, and it resulted in a lot of acid reflux for my twins. While a lot of mamas swear by brewer’s yeast, I chose to leave it out altogether.
